CS32 Award in Felling and Processing Trees over 380mm

NPTC Certified Courses for the Forestry Industry

Candidates must have achieved the Level 2 Award in Chainsaw Maintenance and Cross Cutting, and Felling and Processing Trees up to 380mm.

Course Content

  • Risk assessment and emergency procedures
  • Felling techniques of trees between 380-760mm diameter
  • Take down of hung up trees by hand and mechanical winches
  • Delimbing and snedding techniques
  • Cross-cutting and conversion

Assessment/Progression

This course has an integrated assessment process built into it. Unlike other chainsaw certificates there is no independent assessment. Learners will be assessed at various intervals by the trainer for the NPTC Award in Felling and Processing Trees Over 380mm Diameter. This is a practical assessment with some verbal questioning.

Learners progress onto Award in Severing Uprooted or Windblown Trees. This course is not run on a regular basis at the College, but can be arranged for groups of up to four people.
