About the course

Are you passionate about food? Do you dream of a career in catering but don’t know where to start? Do you want a qualification that is highly recognised? This City & Guilds certificated course will introduce you to the world of cookery and provide you with the skills and training you need to get a start in the industry. You will carry out a range of practical activities in food preparation. You will learn different cooking methods, such as boiling, poaching, steaming, stewing, baking, roasting, grilling and frying. You will also learn how to prepare cold foods, pre-prepared foods and food for special diets. You will also be involved in planning, hosting and catering event during the year. There is the opportunity to be involved in a wider range of activities, such as a variety of trips and visits, and opportunities to socialise and take part in games and sports.
