French Beginners

This introductory course is designed for the complete or near beginner who wishes to obtain basic skills in French and to experience learning a foreign language. The emphasis is on spoken language and on developing sufficient skills to be able to get by in simple everyday situations, such as:

• Greetings

• Ordering food and drinks

• Travelling around

• Booking accommodation

• Using the telephone

• General topics: weather, family, surroundings

Simple grammar and vocabulary will be acquired, and the course will include a limited focus on listening and reading skills. A recommended course book will be used as a background to the course and optional homework will be set after each class.
