This practical 3-day course is designed for candidates who want to gain a recognised qualification in welding. This course is for professional welders who want to gain a recognised qualification and upgrade their skills. It gives you the chance to use the extensive workshop facilities at the Herefordshire and Ludlow College’s Holme Lacy Campus Rural Crafts Centre and to draw on the knowledge of expert tutors to develop and consolidate your welding skills.
Courses Content
Trainees will work at their own pace to develop their skills in:
- Manual Metal Arc (MMA) Welding
- Oxy-Acetylene Welding
- Metal Inert Gas (MIG) Welding
- Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) Welding
Assessment
Learners can choose from City and Guilds 3268 Level 1 or Level 2 Award in:
- Manual Metal Arc (MMA) Welding (3268)
- Oxy-Acetylene Welding (3268)
- Metal Inert Gas (MIG) Welding (3268)
- Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) Welding
Please note: This course is not a combination of these, you will only study one of your choice.
Progression
Trainees can attain City & Guilds Level 1 Award in their chosen skill area and can then progress to Level 2 or to an Apprenticeship in Welding.

- Steel toe capped boots
- Hardwearing clothes
- Earplugs or defenders are also recommended
