This course consists of two level four modules from the HTQ in Community Coaching for England: Nutrition and Training, Fitness and Testing. The programme and module content is designed for those wishing to learn how to best support athletes to optimise their physical and psychological performance and wellbeing. Diet and fitness is essential to achieving success in sport and is vital for reaching the elite level. Learning will be underpinned by the most recent sport science, equipping those wishing to work with such athletes with the knowledge and understanding they need to help them achieve the best. Learning will also underpin success or further study in other fields, including sports therapists working with sports performers in the later stages of rehabilitation, and sport and exercise scientists working with performers trying to peak for competition.
Module accreditation at level 4 in Nutrition and Training, Fitness and Testing (30 credits)
Continuation in completion of the remaining six modules on the HTQ in Community Coaching for England is a typical progression route. Others may wish to progress onto a higher level personal training, strength and conditioning, or rehabilitation qualification, or simply progress into employment in the industry.
The Level 4 Higher National Certificate is recognised by Higher Education providers as meeting admission requirements to many relevant Sports and Sport Science related courses, for example:

Principles of training for sport and exercise, assessing the fitness levels of different sport and exercise participants, planning safe and effective fitness training programmes for sport and exercise, and carrying out safe and effective fitness training programmes for sport and exercise participants are all part of the Training, Fitness and Testing module. The nutrition module content includes the components of nutrition for optimal health and sports performance, components of the digestive system and the factors that affect optimal function, the connection between food consumption and disease, and the range of specific diets, with particular focus on their dietary Principles.
Timetable
Studied full time over two and a half months, and students will attend college 11.5 hours per week. The timetable for September 2024 entry is yet to be confirmed, but will be communicated when available with those who express interest.

The Government are funding up to 30 credits of study as part of the modular acceleration programme for 24/25. If you wish to continue onto the full HTQ, your already low HE study cost will be discounted by a further 25%!
Assessment takes place using a variety of methods including; assignments, presentations, projects, and case studies. All students will receive regular feedback on their work and progress from their tutors. The qualification will be graded at pass, merit and distinction.
We expect those studying this HTQ to ensure they have a Level 3 in a related subject, as well as GCSE maths and English at a Grade C/4 or above. We welcome interest from mature students who may not have the formal qualifications expected, but a wealth of experience in related subject.
