Hatha yoga is a traditional form of yoga that emphasises physical postures (asanas), breathing
techniques (pranayama), and meditation. Here are some of the key benefits and learning aims of our Hatha yoga class:
1. Improved Flexibility: Regular practice of Hatha yoga stretches and lengthens the muscles, which can enhance overall flexibility.
2. Increased Strength: The various poses in Hatha yoga help to build and tone muscle strength, particularly in the core, arms, legs, and back.
3. Better Balance: Many Hatha yoga poses focus on balance and coordination, which can improve
your overall stability and prevent falls.
4. Enhanced Posture: By strengthening the muscles around the spine and increasing body
awareness, Hatha yoga can help improve posture.
5. Greater Joint Mobility: The gentle movements and stretches in Hatha yoga can increase the
range of motion in the joints, reducing stiffness and discomfort.
6. Cardiovascular Health: Although generally gentle, the sustained holding of poses and
incorporation of breath work can positively impact cardiovascular health by promoting better
circulation and reducing stress on the heart.
