College Governors (Voluntary Role)

Do you have what it takes to be one of our College Governors?

Herefordshire, Ludlow & North Shropshire College is seeking passionate, dedicated people to join our existing Governors on our College Board.

About the College

HLNSC is made up of five colleges across Herefordshire & Shropshire.

We deliver high quality academic, technical, professional and community learning to 2,400 full-time and 6,000 part-time students, and train around 700 apprentices each year.

When our students and apprentices complete their courses, they leave with the confidence that they have developed the skills, knowledge and professionalism to successfully progress to their next step in education or employment.

We run an annual budget of £25-30m and employ around 600 staff, and are rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted, with our students’ attitudes and behaviours ranked ‘Outstanding’ (Oct 2022).

 About you

Ideally, you’ll have a broad range of interests and experience rather than a background in education. You will be able to attend meetings across Herefordshire and Shropshire.

You will need to be able to:

  • Attend five Board meetings a year (normally Tuesday afternoons, with a half-day strategy meeting once a year)
  • Participate in at least one of the three committee meetings held each year
  • Attend College events on an ad hoc basis
  • Participate in training and development as appropriate.

Initially this is offered as a one-year appointment with the option to extend – this gives you the chance to learn about the College and ensure the role is right for you. We provide all Governors with training, support and an induction.

This is a voluntary role, but reasonable expenses are paid.
