Recreation & Activities

Of course you’re here to study and build your skills, but college life is also about having fun and taking part in new activities

We call this ‘enrichment’ – because it’s about the extras that make your experience here even richer.

Taking part in enrichment activities is a great way to take a break, have fun, and keep mentally and physically fit.

It can also help you develop skills that will help in your working life, like better communication, problem solving, decision making, time management and creativity.

What's on offer at Herefordshire?

Enrichment can be anything from weekly sessions to oneoff activities and trips. Some examples are:

  • Self-defence workshops
  • Health & Fitness Fairs
  • Yoga sessions
  • Cycle workshops
  • 5-a-side football
  • Team building activities
  • Bouldering

Sports and fitness

Peak Fitness Gym

Our Peak Fitness Suite is a fully equipped gym, with a comprehensive range of modern cardiovascular machines, fixed and free weights. The gym is not open to the public and is exclusively used by college students as part of the qualifications they are studying, as well as enrichment activities they might be participating in. If you are interested in using the gym, the Student Hub staff will be able to arrange an induction for you.

Sports teams

HLNSC has successful football and netball teams that compete in AoC Sport West Midlands league, where they play against other colleges in the region.

Training takes place twice a week, with matches on a Wednesday afternoon.

The College is affiliated to AoC Sport, enabling students to enter regional and national competitions against other colleges. Previously students have competed in cross-country running and table tennis too.

Interested in hockey, rugby or another competitive sport? Let us know. If there’s enough demand we will investigate entering the relevant AoC league.
