Footsteps Daycare Nursery is situated in a purpose-built facility in the grounds of North Shropshire College in Oswestry
It has up to 62 places for babies, toddlers and school age children of 12 years and under.Â
All staff are fully qualified to CACHE Level 3 and above, they are also paediatric first aid trained, with four other staff members having additional training in first aid work. Footsteps is also a training nursery for apprentices. Â
Footsteps’ staff receive rigorous safeguarding training. Additionally, there is a defibrillator on site, which all staff have been trained to use. Â
Children’s development is monitored via the Tapestry app which is shared electronically with our parents and guardians, giving them up to date access to their child’s learning. Â

Our rooms
The Baby Room can accommodate up to 15 babies, aged 3 months to 2 years, in the care of six qualified Nursery practitioners who are able to give a high level of individual care. These babies follow their own familiar routine whilst still having fun with art, music, books and messy play within a stable environment.Â
The Toddler Room can house a maximum of 16 children at any one time aged between 2 and 3 years. They will be cared for with a ratio of 4 children to 1 Nursery Nurse. Their days will be full of activities and fun. They will also be prepared for a busier time when they move up into the Kindergarten.Â
The Kindergarten is the largest room in the nursery. It takes up to 24 children. The children are all aged between 3 and 5 years. The ratio in the room is 1-8. There are two structured educational activities per day preparing them for moving to schools. These sessions follow the Statutory framework for the early years foundation stage (EYFS) and concentrate on the seven areas of learning:Â

- Communications and languageÂ
- LiteracyÂ
- MathematicsÂ
- Understanding the worldÂ
- Expressive Arts and designÂ

Of course there is always ample opportunity for fun and games too! Â
Shropshire County Council Nursery Education is available for three year olds and we also offer 24U funding for our two year olds. Â
The nursery encourages children of all ages to play outside. To aid this there are safe and secure outdoor play areas. Children are supervised outside at all times.Â
The children are also able to access our sensory garden and mud kitchen.Â

A deposit is required on acceptance of a child’s placement. This equates to the higher of the first week’s fees or £75. The deposit is non-refundable unless exceptional circumstances arise, and will be deducted from the first month’s fees.Â
