Ludlow Sixth Form College and the trustees of the Foundation of Ludlow College would like to extend heartfelt thanks to a number of local businesses and charitable organisations whose generosity has helped to create a greatly improved outdoor social space for students at the Palmers Hall campus.
Over the summer, students were able to enjoy the redesigned courtyard as a welcoming place to relax, socialise and spend time outdoors, supporting their wellbeing. As the new academic year gets underway, the space continues to provide a valuable addition to campus life, giving the latest intake of students somewhere to enjoy during the months ahead.
The project was made possible through the outstanding support of the local community, with businesses coming together to donate time, funds and resources. The contemporary design was created by Robert Myers Associates, Landscape Architects, whose thoughtful approach has significantly enhanced the outdoor environment. The scheme not only improves the day-to-day experience for students but also supports biodiversity through the planting of local fruit trees, which are now becoming established and have already produced their first harvest!
Special thanks go to Alan Rubery-Jones of Florabunda Landscapes, who carried out the landscaping work during a particularly cold and wet February. His dedication and professionalism ensured that the project was completed to a high standard despite challenging conditions.
The college is also extremely grateful to the Millichope Foundation for its very generous financial donation, as well as to Frank P Matthews for supplying local species of apple trees and Torc Pots for providing the impressive large planters that feature in the space.
This project is a powerful example of how local support can make a real difference. Having seen students enjoy the space over the summer, it is wonderful to know that future students will benefit from it too. The courtyard stands as a lasting reminder of the strength of community spirit in and around Ludlow, and of what can be achieved when local businesses and charitable organisations come together to support young people.
