Apprenticeships
The animal care industry includes a wide range of organisations including kennels and catteries, groomers, veterinary practices, ‘doggy daycare’, rescue centres, pet shops and farm parks. An animal care apprenticeship involves being employed within the industry and studying at the same time, gaining valuable practical skills and experience as well as a formally recognised qualification.
A certificate of completion from the Institute for Apprenticeships.
Level 2 Animal Care and Welfare Assistant.
Apprentices can progress onto the Level 3 full-time animal management course or full-time employment within the industry
All apprentices will complete an End Point Assessment, which will consist of a practical skills test and professional interview and/or presentation, based on a portfolio of evidence.
Suitable employment on or prior to starting the apprenticeship training programme.
An appropriate level of maths and English (assessed prior to apprenticeship start) Apprentices without English or maths (at Level 2 for a Level 3 Apprenticeship or Level 1 for a Level 2 Apprenticeship) must achieve this prior to taking the End Point Assessment).
We can support you to achieve the desired level of maths and English, through functional skills taught sessions which are mandatory to attend as part of your programme (you cannot achieve your apprenticeship without the required level of maths and English).
