Course Content

This Spanish Beginners course is focused on learning the basics of the Spanish language. The course targets vocabulary and expressions that can be useful when facing daily life situations or when travelling, such as booking a hotel room, talking about our holidays, what we do for a living, going to the shops etc. The students will work on their speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills when facing those situations. They will also become familiar with the Spanish culture by listening to songs or watching videos from the popular culture, as a way to broaden their familiarity with the Hispanic world.

Level: Beginners, or those with basic knowledge of Spanish who wish to start from the basics of the language.

By the end of the course you can expect to:

  • To talk about what you do for a living
  • To ask and say what time it is
  • To have acquired the basic vocabulary needed to go shopping in Spain
  • To talk about your likes and dislikes
  • To have used a wide range of resources and become familiar with some elements of the Spanish culture

You will need: Paso 1 Beginners course (Fourth Edition): Coursebook and Activity Book. Short Stories in Spanish for Beginners, by Olly Richards. A dictionary would be useful when revising at home.

The tutor will supply: Extra resources to complement the course and activity books.

About the tutor: Phillip lived and taught in Mexico for 24 years. Since returning to the UK in 2005, he has taught Spanish classes in an adult environment
