About the course

This practical 3 day course is designed for candidates who want to gain a recognised qualification in welding. This course is for professional welders who want a recognised qualification and upgrade their skills.

It gives candidates the chance to use the extensive workshop facilities at Holme Lacy College’s Rural Crafts Centre and to draw on the knowledge of expert tutors to develop and consolidate welding skills. Candidates work at their own pace to develop skills in either: Manual Metal Arc Welding (MMA); Metal Inert GasWelding (MIG); Oxy-Acetylene Welding or Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) Welding.

PLEASE NOTE THIS COURSE IS NOT A COMBINATION OF ALL THREE.

Please note there is no teaching on this course. It is aimed at experienced welders who require the opportunity to produce the welds needed for the assessment.

If you require any instruction the Intro to Welding course is recommended, which covers TIG, MIG and MMA.

Assessment methods

On successful completion of the course, candidates will be awarded with the City and Guilds Level 1 Award in their chosen skill area.

Fee

Additional Costs – £150.00

This charge identified is applicable to learners aged 16-18 who qualify for funding. Learners aged 19+ will have to pay this charge and possibly tuition and exam fees.
