Meet your Motor Vehicle Tutors

Meet your Motor Vehicle tutors! Our tutors in all subject areas are highly qualified industry experts. Here we shine the spotlight on the Motor Vehicle department at Herefordshire College.

Josh Handley

Josh Handley

From learning the basics at ‘Hereford Tech’ to mastering high-end Mercs, Josh lives and breathes cars. He started as an apprentice here, gaining hands-on skills while earning his qualifications in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair. After working on some of the fastest Mercedes models out there and managing busy workshops, he’s now sharing his knowledge as a tutor at Herefordshire College. He’s a qualified MOT tester, MOT manager, and an expert in hybrid and EV tech. Born and raised in Herefordshire, he’s all about helping the next generation get ahead in the motor industry. Josh teaches across Level 1, 2 and 3 full-time. If it’s got wires or wheels, he’s your guy!

Bryony Rogers

Bryony Rogers

Whether it’s a tractor, a Renault or a motorbike, Bryony knows how to keep it running. With hands-on experience in independent garages and on the family dairy farm, she brings real-world skills straight into the workshop. Bryony teaches Motor Vehicle Repair across Levels 1 and 2, and gets students stuck into the practical side of things from day one. Outside of college, she’s usually fixing farm machinery, riding one of two motorbikes (a Kawasaki Ninja 250 or Suzuki Bandit 650), or turning old car parts into seriously cool mechanical art.

Chris Williams

Chris Williams

From mastering classic engines to exploring cutting-edge EV tech, Chris has seen (and fixed) it all! After starting out as an apprentice at Crosskeys College, he went on to become a Master Technician for Subaru and ran two successful garages. Now, he teaches Automotive Engineering from Level 1 right up to Level 3. He’s obsessed with how cars work, especially how different manufacturers solve the same problems in their own unique ways. Outside of college, you’ll find Chris restoring classic cars, taking a deeper dive into EV diagnostics and keeping up with all things Formula 1. Oh, and he just bought a Tesla!

Ryan Preece

Ryan Preece

From winning ‘Apprentice of the Year’ nationally as a first-year to co-owning a garage, Ryan knows the motor industry inside and out. With over a decade of experience, including time as a top-level Diagnostic Technician at Toyota, he brings exceptional skills into the workshop. He’s also first aid trained, licensed in conflict management, and has A Levels in Chemistry and Business – a perfect mix of brains and hands-on knowledge. Outside of college, Ryan runs a mobile repair business and keeps his skills sharp with real-world work. If it’s broken, he’ll fix it and show you how too.

Justin Haines

Justin Haines

With over 23 years in the trade, Justin brings tons of experience to the classroom. After training at Herefordshire College (where he also won Apprentice of the Year), he worked across diagnostics, fabrication, servicing and MOT testing. He teaches across all levels, from Level 1 to Level 3 apprenticeships. Justin is also an MOT trainer and assessor, helping learners get road-ready for real. Outside of college, he’s usually on a bike, kayak or elbow-deep in the restoration of a classic BMW 2002. Fun fact: He now works in the role once held by HIS tutor, and alongside future students!
