Thera Trust – West Midlands Region and Herefordshire College partner to support the next generation of health and social care professionals

Herefordshire College is pleased to be developing a new patron relationship with Thera Trust – West Midlands region, to create opportunities for Health and Social Care students throughout the 2026/27 academic year.

The partnership is a shared commitment to developing a skilled, compassionate and work-ready workforce for the care sector, providing students with valuable insight into career opportunities supporting people to live independent and fulfilling lives.

Chris Beckingham-Paul, Managing Director, Thera Trust, West Midlands Region, said:

Thera Trust is really pleased to be able to develop this mutually beneficial partnership with Herefordshire College. I am sure the students will benefit greatly from the work placement opportunities that they will have working alongside people supported and staff employed by Thera.

Colleagues also welcome the opportunity to present as guest speakers to students promoting the career opportunities available with senior managers willing to talk about their own career journeys within social care.

We are also pleased to have the opportunity to review and shape curriculum programmes that reflect best practice in how to meet the needs of vulnerable people whilst promoting choice, control and independence.

We sincerely hope that this is the beginning of a long, mutually beneficial relationship for both organisations.

As part of the collaboration, Thera Trust will engage directly with learners through a programme of activities designed to connect learning with professional practice.  Students will benefit from guest speaker sessions, and work placement opportunities.  In addition Thera Trust will review curriculum programmes from Entry Level through to Level 5, ensuring courses continue to reflect current industry requirements and best practice.

The partnership will also support students who have successfully completed their qualifications and are looking to move directly into employment, helping connect talented learners with meaningful careers within the sector.

Gaynor Corrick, Curriculum Team Leader for Health and Social Care, said:

“Strong employer partnerships are essential in preparing students for successful careers. We are pleased to be working with Thera Trust – West Midlands region to provide our learners with valuable industry insight, practical experience and potential employment opportunities. Their involvement will help ensure our curriculum remains relevant, responsive and closely aligned to the needs of the sector.”

By working together, the college and Thera Trust are helping to address workforce needs within the care sector, while providing students with clear pathways from education into employment, supporting the development of confident, skilled and compassionate future professionals.
