Wye Valley Trust
Wye Valley NHS Trust is the provider of healthcare services at Hereford County Hospital, which is based in the city of Hereford, along with a number of community services for Herefordshire and its borders. They also provide healthcare services at community hospitals in the market towns of Ross-on-Wye, Leominster and Bromyard. The Trust exists to improve the wellbeing, independence and health of the people we serve.
Herefordshire Ludlow and North Shropshire College has been upskilling their workforce with the Skills Bootcamp in Leadership and Management, a course aimed at preparing participants for a
more senior role with a health and social care employer. Participants develop skills, confidence and competence using a variety of work-based leadership and management scenarios, with topics ranging from managing change, managing conflict, and principles of leadership practice, to name a few.
The college’s tutor, Chris Gray shared “As a tutor, I’ve seen firsthand how this course transforms participants’ skills and confidence. It’s rewarding to watch students apply what they’ve learned in real-world settings and advance in their careers as a result”.
The Skills Bootcamp in Leadership and Management at Herefordshire Ludlow and North Shropshire College has proven to be effective. Participants have found the course content to be directly applicable to their roles, equipping them with the skills needed to take on greater responsibilities.
As one Wye Valley NHS Trust employee shared, “I found the course extremely beneficial and would have no hesitation in recommending it to others”.
Another Wye Valley NHS Trust employee highlighted the tangible career benefits gained from attending, stating, “I have been successful in obtaining a more senior role since attending the course (Deputy General Manager), which I believe is partly down to what I learnt whilst doing the course.”
