Drama Enrichment students were delighted to be back with this year’s production: The Hound of The Baskervilles. This spoof version of the world-famous novel was originally written for a cast of three. Ludlow Sixth Form College was granted special permission from Nick Herne Books to expand the casting. Consequently, more of the talented could be included.
About the production
When Sir Charles Baskerville is found dead on his estate, he has a look of terror on his face and the paw prints of a gigantic hound beside him. Sherlock Holmes is summoned from Baker Street, with Dr Watson in tow, to unravel the mysteries surrounding his death, and investigate the ancient curse of the Hound of the Baskervilles…
About the students
The students have been incredibly busy, rehearsing each Wednesday afternoon since September. Especially, they have enjoyed working with movement and dialogue, devising costumes, lighting and sound, and practising the many scripted gags!
During the production, one of the drama students accompanied the performances with live music on violin and piano. She played the famous Sherlock Homes Theme music by Patrick Gowers, as well as her own compositions.
Comments from staff
Following the production, Course tutors, Duncan and Carly said “The students were very well supported on both nights by friends and family as well as former students and members of the public. Certainly, the cast gave two excellent performances, and they did themselves proud!”
The production ran from Thursday 7th to Friday 8th March in the Ludlow Sixth Form College Drama Studio.
