About the course: This conversational French course is designed for adults who want to improve their confidence and fluency in spoken French in a friendly and supportive environment. Through practical discussions, role plays and interactive activities, you will develop your speaking and listening skills while expanding your vocabulary and understanding of everyday French. The course explores French culture, customs and current topics, helping you use the language naturally in real-life situations. Whether you are learning for travel, personal interest or social enjoyment, this non-accredited course offers an engaging way to practice French, meet like-minded learners and build confidence in communicating effectively.

This is a non-accredited adult learning course and does not lead to a formal qualification. The focus is on developing
practical French language skills, increasing confidence in speaking and listening, and enjoying language learning in a
relaxed and supportive environment. Learners will receive regular feedback from their tutor and have opportunities
to reflect on their progress throughout the course. You will receive a college certificate in recognition of the skills and knowledge developed as a result of attending this course.
After completing this course, you could continue your studies on a higher-level French course to further develop your
fluency, vocabulary and understanding of French grammar. You may also choose to join advanced conversation
classes, language exchange groups or pursue independent study using French media, literature and online resources.
The skills gained can enhance travel experiences, support personal and professional development, and enable you to
engage more confidently with French-speaking communities. Many learners continue studying term after term,
building greater confidence, cultural awareness and proficiency while enjoying the social and wellbeing benefits of
lifelong learning.
Learners will strengthen their speaking, listening and reading skills through discussions, debates, authentic texts and
multimedia resources. Topics include French history and heritage, art and culture, regional identities, Francophone
countries, current affairs, technology and social issues. The course encourages learners to express opinions,
participate in debates, improve grammatical accuracy and expand vocabulary in meaningful contexts. Interactive
activities, presentations and games help consolidate learning, while cultural exploration promotes a deeper
understanding of the French-speaking world and supports confident communication in French.
As this is a non-accredited conversational French course, assessment is informal, continuous
and designed to support learner progress and confidence. Tutors assess learning through observation of participation
in discussions, debates, presentations and group activities, as well as through listening and reading comprehension
tasks.
There are no formal entry requirements for this non-accredited conversational French course. Learners should have a reasonable foundation in French and be able to participate in simple conversations, understand familiar language and express basic opinions. This course is most suitable for improvers or more advanced learners who wish to build fluency, extend their vocabulary and gain confidence in speaking French. A willingness to participate in discussions, group activities and cultural exploration is recommended.
