Level 3 Creative Media – With a strong interest in the media industry, I slapped down the clapperboard and shouted “Action!” at my very first course, Level 1 Foundation Studies at Walford College. This was my “opening credits” sequence, setting the scene for the unexpected plot twists yet to come.
I then cut to Oswestry College, where I zoomed in on Level 2 Business Studies, which helped me learn to frame my career ideas and capture new opportunities.
After completing both levels, I unlocked Level 3 Creative Media, where I quickly discovered that the media world has more layers than a well-edited documentary. From editing and production to storytelling and design, every aspect of media offered something new to learn, master and sometimes marvel at.
During my time at both Walford and Oswestry, I met some truly inspiring co-stars, several of whom I’m proud to call my friends. They introduced me to new ideas, new perspectives, and collaborative projects that pushed my creativity further.
I joined college with hopes of becoming a broadcast journalist, imagining myself sitting at a news desk while putting a serious face on. But after seeing the media world through the big screen, my life took some truly inspiring plot twists. I found myself drawn to new interests, opportunities and even hobbies that I never imagined having before, each one adding a fresh frame to the reel of my life.
Thank you to all the staff from both Walford and Oswestry who supported me behind the scenes, and a special shoutout to my tutor, Charlotte, who is without a doubt the best teacher I’ve ever had. With her unique blend of an effective teaching style, a wicked sense of humour and quick-witted banter that’s truly un-outwittable, she felt less like a “media professor” and more like Peter Kay stepping into the role of media tutor.
She was the ultimate director and editor of my creative perspective, helping me focus on what I should put in the final cut of my career.
