What will the apprentice be doing?

Organisation

• Undertake reception duties, answering general telephone and face to face enquiries and signing in visitors
• Assist with pupil first aid/welfare duties, looking after sick pupils, liaising with parents/staff etc.
• Assist in arrangements for school trips, events etc

Administration

• Provide general clerical/administration support e.g. photocopying, filing, faxing, completing standard forms, responding to routine correspondence
• Maintain manual and computerised records/management information systems
• Produce lists/information/data as required e.g. pupil data
• Word-processing and other IT-based tasks
• Sort and distribute mail
• Undertake administration procedures
• Maintain and collate pupil reports
• Undertake routine administration of school lettings and other uses of school premises

Resources

• Operate relevant equipment/ICT packages (e.g. Word, Excel, databases, spreadsheets, Internet)
• Maintain stock and supplies, cataloguing and distributing as required
• Operate ‘shops’ within the school
• Provide general advice and guidance to staff, pupils and others
• Undertake general financial administration where appropriate

Safeguarding

• Be aware of and comply with safeguarding responsibilities as outlined in the school’s Staff Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Data Protection and other statutory responsibilities

• Be aware of and comply with data protection responsibilities as outlined in the school’s Staff Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Professional development

• Help keep knowledge and understanding relevant and up-to-date by reflecting on your own practice, liaising with school leaders, and identifying relevant professional development to improve personal effectiveness
• Take opportunities to build the appropriate skills, qualifications, and/or experience needed for the role, with support from the school

Other Responsibilities

• Comply with and assist with the development of policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.
• Be aware of and comply with all school policies and procedures
• Be aware of and support differences and ensure equal opportunities for all
• Contribute to the overall ethos and aims of the School and Trust
• Appreciate and support the role of other professionals
• Attend and participate in relevant meetings, training and learning activities as required
