Students, families, staff and special guests came together on Tuesday evening to celebrate success at the annual FTS Student Awards Evening, recognising the outstanding achievements, commitment and progress of learners across Engineering and Construction programmes.
The event welcomed approximately 140 attendees and provided an opportunity to acknowledge the hard work, dedication and accomplishments of students throughout the academic year. Family members, friends and college staff joined students in marking their success and celebrating the positive impact they have made both in and out of the classroom.
Awards were presented across all Engineering and Construction courses, with students recognised for exceptional performance, commitment to learning and personal development. Highlights of the evening included the presentation of Student of the Year and Best Progress awards, showcasing the remarkable achievements of learners from across the faculty.
A special congratulations was given to Aimee Addison, who was named Overall Student of the Year. Aimee also received Student of the Year for her T Level Electrical Installations programme, reflecting her exceptional dedication, achievement and contribution throughout the year.
The evening was attended by members of the College Management Team, including David Williams, Jon Gill and Clare Perez, alongside College Governor Gillian Herbert, who joined in recognising and applauding the successes of students.
Guests also heard from inspirational speaker Ollie Beale, whose engaging address reflected on his own career journey and the experiences that have shaped his success. Drawing on lessons learned throughout his career, Ollie encouraged students to embrace opportunities, remain resilient in the face of challenges and continue striving towards their ambitions as they move into the next stage of education, training or employment.
Speaking about the event, faculty representatives praised the determination and achievements demonstrated by students throughout the year and highlighted the importance of recognising both academic success and personal progress.
The FTS Student Awards Evening once again provided a fitting celebration of the talent, commitment and potential of learners across Engineering and Construction.
