This charge identified is applicable to learners aged 16-18 who qualify for funding. Learners aged 19+ will have to pay this charge and possibly tuition and exam fees. Learn the professional skills necessary to understand the behaviours and enhance the welfare of a broad collection of animals, from domestic pets to exotic birds and reptiles. Learning will be through a combination of classroom-based and practical workshops, utilising the fully equipped animal care unit. There will be more opportunities to visit animal care organisations, including small businesses, The Cotswold Wildlife Park and Crufts. Students will also have guest speakers throughout the year linking to their course units, as well as complete 150 hours of industry-relevant work experience alongside their course.
Level 2 Technical Certificate in Animal Care.
Study options may include Level 3 in Animal Management Diploma or Animal Care Apprenticeship. Employment options may include kennels or catteries, animal sanctuaries, pet shops, doggy day care centres, zoo and farm parks.
