About the course

This course consists of two modules Maintenance of the Chainsaw and On-site preparation and basic crosscutting. This course is a pre-requisite for all other short courses involving Chainsaw operation.

This course covers:

•Risk assessment and emergency procedures

•Routine operator maintenance of the chainsaw

•Round timber cross-cutting techniques of pre-cut timber up to guide bar length

Assessment methods

Following the course, candidates will be assessed for NPTC Award in Chainsaw Maintenance & cross Cutting. This is a practical assessment. Tests are organised separately by NPTC and can be taken at College or on you own site. Tests take place on a separate day, test date will be confirmed at the start of the course.
