This course consists of two level four modules from the HTQ in Computing. This unit combination will give you an insight into the challenges that organisations face in the protection of their intellectual property, corporate data, client data, IT systems and network infrastructure from attack from cyber criminals and other malicious actors.

This course offers you various progression paths into the workplace and higher education: ·
Completion of the full Higher National Certificate in Computing (Cyber Security) ·
Completion of the full Higher National Diploma in Computing (Cyber Security) ·
Enrolment onto another higher education course (including full degree courses, through credit transfer/recognition of prior attainment) ·
Progression onto a career in computing and cyber security.
You will develop your understanding of prevention techniques in the form of vulnerability testing, security policies, detection techniques, exposing breaches in security and implementing effective responses.
You will learn how to implement contingency plans and devise security policies and procedures as well as the techniques used in the detection of threats and vulnerabilities in physical and IT security and how to manage risks relating to organisational security.
You will take on the role of both blue and red teams as you work to attack and defend systems. You will work within our safe lab environments as we break into mobile phones, networks, and other systems. You will also work to protect systems from attack and malicious actors.
Timetable
Studied part-time for five months, and students will attend college 6 hours per week.

Assessment takes place using a variety of methods including assignments, presentations, projects, and case studies.
All students will receive regular feedback on their work and progress from their tutors.
The qualification will be graded at pass, merit, and distinction.
