About the course

This course is for those who already have some knowledge in the language and who wish to further develop their skills. Although the emphasis is on spoken language to develop the ability to speak more confidently in a range of simple everyday situations, the course will also focus on improving reading, writing and listening skills. Each lesson will feature a varied range of activities such as dialogue, role-play and pair/group work exercises.

During these courses essential grammatical constructions will be introduced, including verb tenses and pronouns, and the range of vocabulary will be increased. Tenses will be covered as appropriate for the range of abilities of the learner enrolled. When appropriate, these will include present, perfect, imperfect, near future, future, conditional, pluperfect and touching on the subjunctive tense. The emphasis is on becoming secure in understanding and using these in a range of scenarios: written, spoken and heard. A text book will be used as a background and optional homework will be set after each class. Learners will benefit from allowing some time for working at home to consolidate learning.
