About the course

This course is a coherent study of the health and social care sector and supports progression to a HE university degree in a related subject; these include nursing, midwifery, paramedic science, social work, occupational therapy, teaching and many more. It could also lead to an apprenticeship in the sector for those who wish to go straight out into practice to work as care/support workers.

What qualification will I gain?

BTEC National Diploma in Health and Social Care. You can choose one additional aim Applied Psychology or A level Sociology as part of the programme to increase the UCAS points available. Alternatively, you could study the Diploma in Heath and Social Care on its own.

This qualification is equivalent to three A Levels (if you select one additional qualification from Applied Psychology, A level Sociology or Criminology. This will give you the necessary UCAS points to progress in Health and Social Care related higher education courses, a Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care, or work in practice if you choose to do so.

Assessment methods

Assessments will be via external exams, controlled internal assessment and written assignments.

Entry requirements
