A course designed for anybody who would like to keep a written record of their encounters with nature. Using popular nature memoirs as a starting point, we will work on short writing tasks to increase our confidence as creative writers.
Level: No experience necessary.
Further Nature writing courses
By the end of the course you can expect to be able to do the following
To understand what memoir is
To identify some features of nature memoir
To participate in a variety of nature writing activities
To identify some writer’s methods and employ them in your own writing
The college/ tutor will supply:
Readings from popular nature memoirs, spare paper and pencils, specimens, a hand lens to share*
*You may want to bring your own writing notebook and pencil.
About the tutor:
Carolyn is a writer and teacher with a special interest in English and outdoor learning. She began teaching creative writing 30 years ago, has taught in universities and schools and is an Associate Tutor with the Field Studies Council.
