CARETAKER (PERMANENT)

Salary: £22,340 plus call-out allowance (£1,668)

Hours: 37 hours per week

Are you a hands-on individual with a knack for maintaining buildings and grounds? We’re seeking a proactive Caretaker to join our existing team of caretakers and grounds staff at our Hereford Campus on Folly Lane.

About the Role:

As a Caretaker, you’ll play a crucial role in maintaining the safety, cleanliness, and functionality of our college facilities. From locking/unlocking buildings to minor repairs and groundskeeping, you’ll ensure our campus runs smoothly. This role offers variety, with tasks ranging from decorating to fire alarm testing and emergency response.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Securing buildings and operating alarm systems
  • Conducting general maintenance and repairs
  • Monitoring site cleanliness and supplies
  • Assisting with porterage and deliveries
  • Carrying out Estates health and safety checks

 

Skills and Experience:

  • Practical skills in identifying and carrying out minor repairs
  • An understanding of basic health and safety
  • Self-motivated and organised
  • Able to work on own initiative or part of a team
  • Good communication skills, friendly and approachable
  • Able to take pride in the appearance and condition of the site, both internally and externally paying particular attention to the buildings and surrounding environment
  • Full UK, manual driving licence

Working Hours:

This is a full-time, permanent role, comprising 37 hours per week. The post operates on a rotational basis alongside other caretaking staff. During term time, the schedule typically includes two weeks of daytime shifts (either 7am – 3pm or 8am – 4pm), followed by one week of evening shifts (three days from 11am – 7pm and two days from 2pm – 10pm).
