Oldfields Garage Services Ltd supports talent development through Herefordshire College patron partnership
Herefordshire College is delighted to strengthen its relationship with Oldfields Garage Services Ltd through the Herefordshire College Employer Patron Scheme, creating new opportunities for students to gain industry insight, develop employability skills, and prepare for successful careers in the automotive sector.
The partnership will see Oldfields Garage Services Ltd work closely with students and staff throughout the 2026/27 academic year, helping to ensure learners benefit from real-world industry experience and an understanding of the skills and attributes employers are looking for in today’s workforce.
Tim Benson, Director at Oldfields Garage Services Ltd said “We believe businesses have to play their part in developing the next generation. We can’t talk about skills shortages and then leave colleges to solve them alone. Working with Herefordshire College gives us the opportunity to share what today’s automotive workplace really looks like, help students understand the skills and standards employers expect, and show them the rewarding careers available within our industry. We’re proud to formalise the partnership and I’m personally really excited to be supporting the students, apprentices and teaching team throughout the year”.
Through a structured programme of engagement, Oldfields Garage Services Ltd will support several key activities designed to enhance students’ learning and career readiness, including guest speaking, curriculum review with teaching staff, and supporting interview preparation skills. Alongside these planned activities, Oldfields Garage Services Ltd will continue to provide ongoing support for apprenticeship opportunities and engagement with apprentices throughout the year.
