About the course

The Photovoltaic Systems Installer training course is designed for qualified Electricians who hold BS 7671 (current edition) and who wish to install PV Systems.

For a limited period, fees may be discounted as low as £95 (standard fee £670). *Subject to eligibility criteria. Discounts/grants may be applied depending on personal circumstances.

Upon successful completion you will gain an industry accepted qualification which is also recognised by the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS). We aim to keep class sizes to under 8 so all learners get an opportunity to practice the skills and knowledge gained during the course prior to undertaking assessment.

The course is delivered over three days and covers: How a Photovoltaic System works, Principles and Components, Design, Installation, Commissioning, Client hand-over, Maintenance and Fault Finding on PV systems

This course is set to take place every month, and has minimum and maximum places for each course, please contact us for future dates.

Assessment methods

Assessments are open book multi-choice, written response questions and observed practicals.

Entry requirements

Learners must be competent electricians and hold one of the qualifications listed below and BS 7671: 2018 Requirements for Electrical Installations (18th Edition) qualification

1. Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment (Buildings, Structures and the Environment) (2357)

2. Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrotechnical Services (Electrical Maintenance)(2357)

3. Level 3 Electrotechnical Qualification (5357)

4. Level 3 in Electrotechnical Services Experienced Worker (2356)

5. Level 3 NVQ in Electrotechnical Services – Electrical Installation (Building and Structures)

6. Level 3 Electrotechnical Experienced Worker Qualification.(2346)

7. Level 3 Electrotechnical in Dwellings

8. EAL Building Services Engineering (Level 3) – Electrotechnical Installation

9. Equivalent historical qualifications. See EAS Table 4B/4C, and the EAS Qualifications Guide

10. ECS Gold Card (for domestic electrician), JIB Electrician (Not PAT tester only) or Approved Electrician Card

Stand-alone technical certificates/vocationally related qualifications (VRQ) (non-competency based) are NOT acceptable.
