Liam Jones
Liam completed his Leadership and Management Skills Bootcamp at Herefordshire College earlier this year. Employed as a Care Coordinator for a small company based in Shropshire looking after young adults with learning disabilities, Liam chose to study the Skills Bootcamp following his recent promotion to a leadership role, to help him become a better leader and manager.
Skills Bootcamps are designed to develop skills that employers are looking for. They offer an excellent opportunity to train in a new industry or advance in a current career.
Liam said “Our tutor Chris Grey was brilliant! He was very helpful with any questions and really took the time to get to know us all and then tailor the bootcamp to us in a person-centred way”. The Herefordshire College course is a flexible and practice-based course, aimed to prepare participants for a more senior role. The course aims to develop skills, confidence and competence using a variety of work-based leadership and management scenarios. Topics covered include Principles of Leadership Practice; Managing Performance; Forming Successful Teams; Managing Change; Managing Conflict, and much more.
Liam shared “The content covered in the course was very good and thorough. We spent a whole day each week on each subject, which allowed us to fully understand each subject and ask any questions we had along the way”.
The Leadership and Management Skills Bootcamp takes eight weeks to complete, and is studied online, with an aim to fit learning around family or other commitments.
Liam said “I will use my learning every single day in my new role, whether that be managing conflict in the workplace or dealing with change. These are all things I will deal with in day-to-day life at work, and now, because of this course, I feel I can deal with these situations in the correct manner and more efficiently”.
