In February 2025, 20 lucky students from North Shropshire College and Walford College made the trip of a lifetime to Thailand.
At HLNSC, we believe in providing students with opportunities beyond the classroom, and this Global Citizenship Programme has been a perfect example of how hands-on experiences shape both personal and professional growth.
No matter their course of study, our students have developed adaptability, communication, teamwork, and leadership skills—all of which are nurtured through our enrichment, careers, and student development provision at HLNSC.
From teaching in local schools to caring for rescued elephants, this trip has given students real-world experience that complements their academic studies. Experiencing a new culture, language, and way of life has pushed them beyond their comfort zones, helping them problem-solve, collaborate, and grow in confidence—all key skills we help develop through work experience, BOOST sessions, and our Careers Hub.

Whether supporting ethical conservation efforts or helping young learners develop English skills, our students have made a lasting impact while gaining experiences that will set them apart in their future careers.
