About the course

An operations or departmental manager is someone who manages teams and/ or projects, and achieving operational or departmental goals and objectives, as part of the delivery of the organisations strategy. You will be accountable to a more senior manager or business owner. Working in the private, public or third sector and in all sizes of organisation, specific responsibilities and job titles will vary, but the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed will be the same. Key responsibilities may include creating and delivering operational plans, managing projects, leading and managing teams, managing change, financial and resource management, talent management, coaching and mentoring

What qualification will I gain?

Roles may include: Operations manager, Regional manager, Divisional manager, Department manager and Specialist managers.

Assessment methods

  • The programme is delivered entirely through workplace skills assessment.

  • At the completion of all on programme learning all apprentices will complete and End Point Assessment and for this standard that will involve a Project Proposal, Presentation with questions and Professional Discussion underpinned by a Portfolio.

Entry requirements

  • Suitable employment on or prior to starting the apprenticeship training programme.

  • An appropriate level of maths and English (assessed prior to apprenticeship start)

  • Apprentices without English or maths at Level 2 must achieve this prior to taking the End Point Assessment.

  • We can support you to achieve the desired level of maths and English, through functional skills taught sessions which are mandatory to attend as part of your programme (you cannot achieve your apprenticeship without the required level of maths and English).
