We are delighted to announce that Darren Turner, HLNSC Public and Protective Services tutor has been shortlisted as a Finalist in the FE Lecturer of the Year category in The Pearson National Teaching Awards 2024 
The Pearson National Teaching Awards are an annual celebration of education, recognising the incredible work of teaching communities across the UK. 16 awards categories cover primary, secondary and further education sectors.
Students and ex-students have all commented on how hugely supportive and inspirational Darren has been in guiding them through, not only the course, but in many cases life as a young person. He has consistently gone above and beyond to secure them opportunities and references. Encouraging them to reach their goals outside of college, often in his own time.
Common themes in the comments provided by his students include ‘always smiling’ ‘always helpful’ and ‘He is the best’.
