Herefordshire, Ludlow and North Shropshire College (HLNSC) is celebrating the achievements of two individuals with strong College connections who represented their sports in Glasgow at the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
Former Ludlow Sixth Form College student Oliver Morgan, who returned to inspire students as a guest speaker at last year’s graduation ceremony, enjoyed an outstanding Games, winning five silver medals. His final medal came in the men’s 4x100m medley relay alongside Ed Mildred, Adam Ramsay-Peaty and Jacob Mills, following silver-medal performances in the 100m, 50m and 200m backstroke events, as well as in the men’s 4x100m freestyle relay.
Meanwhile, former Sport Lecturer at Herefordshire College, Phillipa Yarranton, proudly represented Wales in the Commonwealth Games netball competition, competing against some of the world’s leading nations and showcasing the skill, dedication and professionalism required to perform on the international stage.
The College is incredibly proud to see former students and colleagues achieving success on such a prestigious stage. Their accomplishments reflect the breadth of talent within the wider HLNSC community and serve as an inspiration to current students as they pursue their own ambitions.
Whether progressing into elite sport, public service, business, the creative industries or higher education, HLNSC students continue to forge successful and varied career paths. The achievements of Oliver Morgan and Phillipa Yarranton at the Commonwealth Games are a testament to the talent, dedication and potential of those connected to the College.
