Achievements Celebrated at Apprenticeship Awards Evening

Last night, Herefordshire College proudly hosted its annual Apprenticeship Awards Evening, which brought together apprentices, employers, families, tutors and staff to celebrate the achievements of learners across a wide range of industries.

The event opened with a warm welcome from David Williams, Principal & Chief Executive, who praised the dedication and hard work shown by apprentices throughout the year. This was followed by an introduction from Dr Jon Gill, Vice Principal – Faculty of Technology, Holme Lacy College & Apprenticeships, who highlighted the vital role apprenticeships play in supporting regional skills development and strengthening industry partnerships.

A speech was then delivered by guest speaker Ben Mannion, co-owner of Hewett Recruitment and a leading figure in the skills and talent sector. Drawing on more than 20 years of recruitment experience, Ben shared insights into the evolving employment landscape and emphasised the importance of resilience and continued learning.

The evening then celebrated apprentices from across the College’s diverse curriculum, with awards presented by the apprenticeship team staff including Deb Probert (Welding, Farm Worker & Animal Care), Ben Greenwood (Electrical), Kate Price (Brickwork & Property Maintenance), Alison Gibbons (Early Years), Tracie Durant (Accounting, Business Admin & Management), Alys Probert (Arborist), Connor Collett (Engineering), Phil Dallow (Motor Vehicle), Brian Rodgers (Carpentry & WPMO), Tim Burgoyne (Gas Engineering) and Kelly Crowther (Hairdressing).

Speaking after the event, several award-winners expressed their pride in representing their employers and thanked their tutors for their support.

The College extends its warmest congratulations to all nominees and winners, and thanks the employers, staff and families who contribute to the ongoing success of the apprenticeship programme.

We look forward to continuing to support apprentices as they take their next steps into skilled, rewarding careers.
