This course consists of two modules Maintenance of the Chainsaw and On-site preparation and basic cross cutting . This course is a pre-requisite for all other short courses involving Chainsaw operation.
NPTC Award in Chainsaw and Related Operations
Candidates can progress on to Award in Felling and Processing Trees up to 380mm or on to the Award in Accessing a Tree Using a Rope and Harness Including Aerial Tree Rescue Operations
Risk assessment and emergency procedures
Routine operator maintenance of the chainsaw
Round timber cross-cutting techniques of pre-cut timber up to guide bar length
Minimum Age:
Students need to be 19 years or older to enrol on this course

2 days (plus additional 1/2 day for NPTC assessment)
