This content of this course is flexible according to the choices and experience of the learners enrolled. There will be a variety of projects to choose from.
Alternatively, learners may bring their own projects to work on with expert guidance from the tutor, such as cushions, curtains or blinds (small to medium). Projects may need to be completed at home.
You will need to bring:
A basic sewing kit to include scissors, tape measure, ruler, pencil, hand sewing needles and tacking thread. If you would like to start with one of your own projects, you will need to bring in the materials for it. Later in the course you will need to bring in further materials for subsequent projects.
If you wish to start with a guided project, this will be a cushion: Please bring in the following materials for the first week: 1.5m fabric of your choice, matching thread, a contrasting thread for tacking, an inner cushion.
The tutor/college will provide:
Sewing machines, iron, drafting paper, self-cover buttons, press studs, buckram, blind rings, penny weights, zip slides, zip on a roll, pencil pleat tape and hook and loop tape, as required.
You might like to enrol on a further term of Home Furnishings to build on your skills.
