About the course

A one-year course which has two main components: the first enables you to gain skills in your chosen vocational area, and the second being project-based learning which help to develop your confidence and resilience. Throughout the course you will have opportunities to take part in a range of practical tasks, fundraising events and educational visits, all planned to best support you in making an informed career/course choice for the future.

Key facts

Practical sessions form an important part of the course enabling you to develop skills that are needed to work in leisure centres, sports retail outlets and activity centres. Your theoretical study will cover a wide range of subjects, enhancing understanding of your physical performance and preparing you for future study. This will include areas such as; fitness testing and development, anatomy and physiology, effects of exercise on the body, planning and leading sport activities and injury in sport.

Assessment will be through a number of coursework assignments
