Ludlow Sixth Form College is delighted to report on its first ever alumni event, which took place in the Old School Room. This gathering enabled former students to reconnect with each other alongside staff and trustees of the Foundation of Ludlow College.
Historical Significance of Ludlow Sixth Form College
Established as a grammar school at the turn of the thirteenth century before transitioning into a sixth form college in 1977, Ludlow boasts a storied past, with its own unique and rich heritage that reflects the educational evolution of the region over the last eight hundred years.

The Old School Room stands as a symbol of the college’s enduring commitment to educational excellence. Its historic architecture provides a fitting backdrop for events that honour the College’s legacy and achievement of its alumni.

Ludlow Sixth Form College has been the alma mater to many distinguished individuals, including (from the Ludlow Grammar School alumni):
• Nicholas Grey: Founder of Grey Technology (Gtech), a renowned design and manufacturing company.
• Adrian Jones: Esteemed sculptor known for his significant contributions to the art world.
• John Marston: Founder of Sunbeam Cycles, a pivotal figure in the automotive industry.
• Thomas Wright: Noted antiquarian with a lasting impact on historical scholarship.

The inaugural alumni event featured a series of activities designed to reconnect former students, including:
• Welcome Reception: An opportunity to meet and mingle with fellow alumni, staff and trustees of the Foundation of Ludlow College, with whom we have a special and unique relationship. Our students continue to benefit from the Foundation’s support and sponsorship in many different ways.
• Historical Exhibition: A showcase of the College’s history, including photographs, historic records dating back hundreds of years, and memorabilia.
Alumni are encouraged to share their own stories and ex
periences, contributing to the rich tapestry of the College’s history.
