A successful Work Placement Fair took place for students at North Shropshire College based in Oswestry this week.
A number of local organsations attended and gave the students a valuable insight into careers in Health, Social Care and Early Years.
As part of their course, students are required to undertake work placements which count towards their qualification.
Health and Social Care Lecturer, Flavia Humphreys, said “Finding the right placement is really important. It gives students the opportunity to work with different clients, patients and carers in a range of settings.
For those who are unsure of their career path, it is a great chance to see different professions at first hand.”
Derwen College’s Lead Practitioners, Sadie and Emma, highlighted the importance of passion and energy when working at the college.
Joanne Plimmer from Bethphage shared photos of their projects at Oak Farm and activities with clients in supported living.
Representatives from the Robert Jones and Agnus Hunt Hospital listed some of the 350 careers paths available within the NHS. Afterwards the students had the chance to talk individually to the organisations and find out more.
