0.5 Teacher of Accountancy

Herefordshire College has a rare and exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to join a high achieving department in a successful Further Education College. This is a 0.5 vacancy but the offer of fractional post/s for the right candidates/s will also be considered.

The successful candidate will prepare, teach and mentor the students in preparation for examinations across the AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) qualifications. Students take part in their studies on a part‑time basis, with some completing their training through an apprenticeship route. Both part-time students and apprentices are highly motivated and working towards a Certificate in Accounting, Diploma in Accounting and Diploma in Professional Accounting, eventually graduating as professional members of AAT.

The College’s student-centred approach to teaching and learning means you will need the ability to communicate effectively and appropriately at all levels, plan and prepare teaching resources, support learners as they work towards their exams, and adapt your teaching approaches to suit the needs of everyone.

The college rate of achievement in these qualifications is above national average, and the successful candidate would need to hold a relevant accounting qualification, industry experience, as well as passion for the subject in order to be able to maintain the high achievement standards.

The post is for two and a half days per week, however this will depend on what fractional contract is agreed and the candidate would ideally be able to deliver Cost/Management Accounting, Financial Accounting and Taxation. A recognised teaching qualification would be highly desirable but not essential.

A comprehensive package of employee benefits is in place including a competitive salary, above average holiday entitlement, eligibility to join a defined benefit pension scheme with excellent financial contributions of 28.68% by the College and pension death in service grant of 3 x salary, generous occupational sickness, maternity, paternity and shared parental leave pay schemes, high number of free on-site parking bays, access to a range of free CPD events, professional qualifications and recreational courses, flexible working policy, eye care voucher scheme, cycle to work scheme, wellbeing support, use of free on-site gymnasium reduced fees for on-site children’s nursery, access to competitively priced food outlets, access to o-site training restaurant and occasional free hairdressing and beauty treatments.
