About the course

Over the duration of this course, we will explore the roles of forensic psychologists, moving from their involvement in law enforcement to their contribution within the courts and prison systems. We will tackle controversial topics, such as understanding criminal responsibility, the psychology of addiction and the reliability of witness testimony. You will also learn about the vital work of expert witnesses and the crucial process of treating and rehabilitating offenders. Content will include:

  • The role of the forensic psychologist

  • Crime, substance abuse and addiction

  • Police stress / criminal responsibility 

  • Risk assessing offenders and protecting the public

  • Memory and witness testimony / expert witnesses

  • Treatment and rehabilitation of offenders
