GCSE Maths
Further Education in A levels at Ludlow Campus or Sixth Form College for 16-19 year olds or if 19+, by correspondence or out of county, employment or Degrees at Higher Education levels.
GCSE maths is one of the most important qualifications a student can gain to progress into employment, access career progression opportunities or gain entry to Higher Education courses. GCSE maths is offered at the Foundation Level and encourages learners to develop confidence and a positive attitude towards maths.
Content emphasises and encourages:

Fluency in procedural skill
Competency to apply mathematical skills in a range of contexts
Confidence in mathematical problem solving.

The curriculum is assessed across three papers, totalling 4½ hours of assessment.
Paper 1 – calculator (1½ hours)
Paper 2 – non-calculator (1½ hours)
Paper 3 – calculator (1½ hours)
Each paper is marked out of 100.
This course is aimed at those who currently hold a D grade (grade 3) in the subject and wish to improve. For mature students some previous knowledge in the subject is desirable, plus proof of success in at least one GCSE.
Initial interviews will be held prior to enrolment on the course. Pre-course assessment tests should show strong level 1 aptitude at least.
