Level 5 Learning and Skills Teacher Apprenticeship Standard
Upon successful completion of the Level 5 Learning and Skills Teacher Apprenticeship, you would be eligible to pursue Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) status. Additionally, you could consider progressing to the Education and Lifelong Learning BA Top-Up degree to further enhance your skills and knowledge in the field of education.
Participants will develop core competencies such as:

2. Engaging learners effectively to establish standards of behaviour, promote mutual respect, and ensure a safe learning environment.
3. Utilising digital and mobile technologies in a safe manner to enhance learning outcomes. 4. Accessing current information and guidance to support effective teaching practices.

These competencies are essential for effective teaching and promoting a positive learning experience for students.
During the Level 5 Learning and Skills Teacher Apprenticeship, participants will explore a variety of topics, such as:

3. Embedding English, maths, and ICT skills into the curriculum.
4. Curriculum design and development.
5. Communication theories to enhance teaching effectiveness.

Additional topics covered in the apprenticeship include:
1. Behaviour management strategies for effective classroom dynamics.
2. Reflective practice for continuous professional development.
3. Theories of assessment and evaluation methods.
4. Pedagogical principles to inform teaching approaches.
Students will also gain a Level 2 Safeguarding qualification.
As part of the Level 5 Learning and Skills Teacher Apprenticeship, you will be employed in a teaching role within a school, sixth form, educational training, or post-16 sector setting. You are required to complete 250 hours of teaching over the duration of 18 months. Your workplace must have the capacity to provide a subject-specific mentor to support you in your teaching journey.
Upon completion of the apprenticeship, you will undergo an End-Point Assessment (EPA) to demonstrate your competence in teaching and learning within the relevant sector. This assessment will culminate in the attainment of a sector-specific Level 5 teaching qualification.
To enroll in the Level 5 Learning and Skills Teacher Apprenticeship, you must possess a relevant Level 2 GCSE qualification in Mathematics and English, as well as a Level 3 qualification or higher in a subject or vocational area. If you do not have the required Level 2 qualifications in maths and English, you will need to achieve them before undertaking the end-point assessment.
You are also expected to showcase digital skills at Level 1. The minimum age to join this apprenticeship is 18, and you are required to undergo an enhanced DBS check as part of the application process.
