This course is aimed at those who wish to build on their digital photography skills. The course is designed to follow on from Basic Digital Photography, but it is also open to those with some experience. The course is suitable for those using a DLSR camera or android smartphone (iphone users are welcome to enrol, though there will be less technical information provided).
Topics to be covered will include:
Recap the previous course, reflect on progress made and course plan
How to style your photography; colour theory
How to ‘fix’ photographs; altering photographs
The IT aspect – how to safely save, store and back up your images
Indoor and outdoor macro photography
Flat landscape; movement photography
How to approach photography of the natural world vs. manmade
Please note that some sessions will take place outdoors and at alternative venues – Please see below. Learners will need to make their own way to the off-site venues.
Dates: This course will be re-scheduled to run during the 26/27 academic year.

Venue: Venue: Theory sessions take place at our Folly Lane Campus, Hereford HR1 1LS; practical sessions take place on the college site or at an alternative venue as below:
– Week 4 – 12th May 2026 – Around the college site, for example the wood working area to explore up-close/macro photography – Tuesday evening
– Week 5 – 19th May 2026 – Castle Green, Hereford – Tuesday evening
– Week 6 – 2nd June 2026 – Bartonsham Meadows, Hereford – Tuesday evening
– Week 7 – 9th June 2026 – The rose garden at Coningsby Hospital Museum – Tuesday evening
– Week 8 – 17th June – 10.00am-12.00 noon – Queenwood Arboretum – Wednesday morning
This course follows on from the Basic Digital Photography course. It is suitable for those with some experience in taking digital photographs.
