This is an exciting opportunity to make beautiful items for your home under the patient and expert guidance of our lovely tutor, Lesley. You will be able to enjoy choosing colours and textures for your projects to bring in to work on in college with kind and clear instruction.
There will be a variety of projects to choose from, such as the Oxford cushion above, or you can bring your own project to work on with Lesley’s guidance. Typical items are cushions, curtains or blinds (small to medium). Projects may need to be finished off at home.
You will need to bring:
A basic sewing kit with scissors, a tape measure, a ruler and pencil, hand sewing needles and some tacking thread. If you would like to start with one of your own projects, you will need to bring in the fabric and any other materials needed for it.
If you would like to start with and Oxford cushion, please bring in the following materials for the first week:
1.5m fabric of your choice, matching thread, a contrasting thread for tacking, an inner cushion.
Sewing machines will be provided. In addition, an iron, drafting paper, self-cover buttons, press studs, buckram, blind rings, penny weights, zip slides, zip on a roll, pencil pleat tape and hook and loop tape, will be available as required.
You might like to enrol on a further term of Home Furnishings to build on your skills.
