Ludlow Sixth Form College is proud to celebrate the outstanding success of Archie, who has secured a place at one of the world’s most prestigious institutions, Harvard University!
The application for Harvard involved writing a series of essays, taking the SAT, and interviews with a former student and admissions officer. Archie is aiming to major in Environmental Science and Public Policy which means he will be able to take courses across the Arts, Sciences, Engineering, Government, Law and Economics departments.
During his time at college, Archie studied a diverse mix of subjects, combining sciences and humanities. Reflecting on his experience, he credits his teachers not only for their expertise but also for their ability to inspire him. “My Biology, Geography and Maths teachers are experts in their fields and, as well as imparting their knowledge, they also instil a passion for the subjects.”
Archie particularly enjoyed the hands-on learning opportunities, especially fieldwork trips, which brought his studies to life.
Archie highlights the tailored support he received throughout his journey, especially during the university application process. “The staff at Ludlow take time to understand what each individual student wants to undertake after A Levels. They go out of their way to offer personalised support to ensure students achieve their goals, whether they be via an apprenticeship, a university application, or to go directly into full employment. They proactively employ a wide range of university and business contacts to assist with this. ”
He also expressed his gratitude to key members of staff. “The staff at Ludlow Sixth Form College have been fantastic. Neil Church and Linda Randall on the Senior Leadership Team have been particularly helpful, and I am grateful to them for assisting me to achieve this opportunity.”
Archie made the most of college life beyond his studies. He was actively involved in extracurricular activities, including:
- Film Club – producing videos and reviewing events at Ludlow Assembly Rooms
- Student Ambassador and Student Governor roles
- A wide range of sports, music and volunteering opportunities
These experiences helped him develop valuable skills alongside his academic achievements.
Looking to the Future
Archie strongly recommends Ludlow Sixth Form College to future students. “As well as being great academically, the college offers a wide range of extracurricular activities. It’s small enough so that you get personalised attention from staff and it’s also a happy and fun place to study.”
He adds, “Ludlow College is an excellent place to choose to study A Levels if you want to be surrounded by friendly, motivated students and taught by staff who really go the extra mile.”
Having studied a broad mix of subjects, Archie is excited to continue exploring multiple disciplines at university.
