North Shropshire College Welcomes St Martin’s Pupils Following Fire

North Shropshire College is delighted to be supporting pupils from St Martin’s School after a serious fire left parts of their school site unusable.

The incident happened at the end of September and is believed to have been linked to solar panels on the roof of the building. While the school site remains closed for safety reasons, alternative arrangements have been made to ensure children’s education can continue without interruption.

As part of these plans, pupils from Year 11 are now spending three days each week (Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays)  at North Shropshire College. The College is providing access to its teaching spaces, IT facilities, and wider campus resources to make sure the children have a safe and supportive environment for learning.

Head of North Shropshire College, Sadie Gardner said:
“We’re really pleased to be able to offer practical support to St Martin’s at this difficult time. It’s been wonderful to see the pupils settling in so quickly and making the most of everything we have here at the College. Our staff and students have enjoyed welcoming them and we’re looking forward to continuing to work together over the coming weeks.”

The collaboration highlights the strength of local partnerships and the shared commitment to putting students’ needs first.

North Shropshire College will continue to support St Martin’s until their school site is ready to reopen.
