Jake Brown as Lord Lieutenants Cadet

Jake Brown’s Achievement as Lord Lieutenants Cadet

Level 3 Public & Protective Services student, Jake Brown, recently celebrated an amazing year as a Lord Lieutenants Cadet. He attended an awards ceremony in the Assembly Rooms at Hereford Town Hall.

Jake had to give a 10-minute speech as one of the outgoing cadets. This was in front of an audience of over 200 dignitaries from across Herefordshire including the High Sheriff, the Mayors of the county towns and numerous other military personnel.

Jake outlined his year as Lord Lieutenant Cadet. He also explained his achievements/highlights and offered words of advice to this year’s incoming cadets.

In his speech, Jake said “My role as Lord Lieutenants Cadet has allowed me to attend events I would never have had a place at. Including being witness to the signing of the Armed Forces Covenant, attending the Declaration Ceremony of the High Sherriff, meeting Veterans, presenting a British Empire Medal, witnessing Citizenship Ceremonies and even having the honour of meeting members of the Royal family. This has by far been my most rewarding year within the Army Cadet Force.

The Lord Lieutenants Cadet position should not be taken at face value. You (the next term of Lord Lieutenants Cadets) should feel very proud to have been given this honour. This is not only an opportunity to learn from those with far more knowledge than yourself, nor is it just an opportunity to look good for the camera, and believe me there will be a lot of photos taken!, but it is also a juncture to appreciate events past, present and future that have impacted and will impact on your life as a British Citizen”

Congratulations Jake on such a fantastic achievement!
